I am giving it a four star because at the highest level my dogs are scared. I have 1 papillon, 1 chihuahua, 1 Japanese chin,2 dachshunds. The dachshunds won’t use it at all. I did use extra zip ties to make stable. I also put fabric over the side rails to make them feel more secure.
I have a dog with hip displacing and he can climb right up it.
Very well made, though I agree with other commenters that the ramp is slippery at steeper angles. My bed is 36" high. Even though it's carpeted, if it weren't for the stop bars my little 12# pup would slide back down.
Our furbaby is 14 and hips/legs no longer can hold her to jump in or out of bed. Tried this ramp and she took to it right away. Trained her with beef jerky pieces. It only took 2 times and she started using it by herself. Wished I would have purchased this a long time ago as she hates being picked up. We did use an extra bungie cord to keep it stable against bed. Would suggest hard rubber grips where the wooden steps are. It would make it easier to climb. Thank you!
I've had this ramp for over a year now. I replaced a set of steep stairs with this ramp for my 11 year old 18 pound miniature schnauzer. The ramp is sturdy, easy to secure to my bed with a few extra zip ties (metal frame full bed) and it doesn't wobble when the dogs walk up the ramp. The width is good for a small but clumsy boy and I love how adaptable the railings are. I intended to use this without the railings, but my old man kept forgetting that he has a ramp and not his stairs so he'd walk straight off the side in the mornings. Once I added the railing back he no longer fell off, but he has broken one of the railings (the wood of the railing and the slot it fits into on the ramp) in his sleepy stupor. I can imagine that the railings wouldn't hold up to being hit by a larger dog.I have it at the foot of the bed and the adjustability means it works with a pretty tall bed with a 4" memory foam topper. There is a gap between the mattress and the ramp (due to my frame, I don't think it's normal) that I stuffed an old body pillow into to make him more comfortable. I haven't made use of the folding feature and didn't even bother installing the handles. For me this was well worth the $$ and will last for years to come.
